For the past two years, the Guardian Scholars Program has put on this project in the Fall. The goal of the Gift Box project is to give back to the Foster Youth community and provide a connection for youth in local foster agencies to UC Merced. This is all accomplished by filling up shoe boxes with gifts for foster youth. In 2018, the program completed 30 shoe boxes and provided those to foster youth in Merced. In 2019, we increased the amount to 50 shoe boxes and included Turlock. We hope to continue this project and continue to give back to the Foster Youth community.
